How to play your own beats in the studio

Your beat can be playing within two minutes of walking in. The fastest way is to upload it to your Audio House Audio Library before you arrive. The second option is the free beat library built into the recording software. If your beat is only on your phone right now, there is a third path that works, but it takes a few extra steps. All three are covered below, in order of how quickly each one works.

Option 1: Upload to your Audio Library before you arrive

This is the method that works best. Do it at home, on the bus, anywhere with a signal, and your beat is waiting for you the moment you walk in.

1. Open the Audio House app on your phone or a browser.
2. Tap Audio Library in the navigation bar.
3. Tap Upload audio.
4. Choose the file from your phone or computer. The app accepts MP3, WAV, FLAC, and M4A files.
5. Give it a name you will recognize, then tap Save.

When you are in the studio, open the app on the studio screen, click Import Media, find your beat, and click Import. It appears on the recording timeline immediately. Press play and you will hear it in your project.

If you have not done this yet and you are standing in the room right now, skip to Option 3. You can still get it done.

Option 2: Use the free beat library

Every session includes access to a library of free beats and background tracks. No upload needed, no account setup.

On the studio screen, tap Import Media in the left sidebar. You can filter by mood, tempo, or genre using the row of buttons at the top of that panel. Tap any beat to preview it through the studio speakers. When you find one you want to use, tap Add to session. It loads onto the timeline and you are ready to record over it.

This is a good option when you are open to something new, or when you want a scratch track to record over while you wait to get your own beat sorted. Many people find something they like better than what they brought.

Option 3: Transfer from your phone

Your beat is on your phone and nowhere else. It takes a few extra minutes, but it is simple to upload your audio from your phone.

1. In the Audio House recording software, click Import Media and scan the QR code with your phone.
2. This takes you to the Audio Library on your phone. Just tap Upload beat.
3. Select the file from your phone's local storage or music app. If it is in a streaming app and not saved locally, see the note below.
4. Once uploaded, it will appear on the studio screen. You may need to close the Import Media window and re-open it.

A note on streaming apps: If your beat lives inside a streaming service such as SoundCloud or YouTube, it is not a file you own and you cannot upload it directly. You have two options. Ask the producer for the file itself, which most will send as an MP3 or WAV. Or, if the beat is on YouTube, you will need to find a way to purchase or download the beat before using it.

Do this before your session starts

The clock starts when you session starts, taking time to upload the beat can be a frustrating waste of time. A few minutes of preparation at home saves that time for recording.
